Aramni is a very modern entrance to the underworld, and the one with the most powerful hydraulics. Equpped as it is with the very latest in hell's elevator technology, it can almost instantaneously transport the devil and his minions to the surface, and the antenna running the whole length also ensures he never drops a call.
But the real power of that antenna are the space warp waves it broadcasts. (The sidwalk is a relatively benign example of it's true power.) For the radius of 3 miles, a traveler who doesn't know exactly where he or she is going, and how to get there will be hopelessly lost and may drive into the bay. Even a traveler with a clue, in broad daylight, can end up exitting the field in a location other than where she intended.
